đ¨ Disneyâs âSnow Whiteâ Flops as Both Sides Boycott: Gal Gadotâs Role Sparks Global Backlash

Disneyâs $250M live-action Snow White was supposed to be a fairytale comeback. Instead, itâs turning into a financial horror story â and much of the blame lies with its casting of Israeli actress and former IDF soldier Gal Gadot.
Letâs break it down âŹď¸
đ Disneyâs $250M Disaster
Snow White opened to a weak $43M in the U.S. and just $87M globally â far below Disneyâs projections and nowhere near enough to recoup its massive $250 million budget.
This is on track to be one of Disneyâs biggest box office flops ever.
đ¸ Thatâs less than 20% of what The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast made in their opening weekends.
đŁ Why Did It Bomb?
Itâs not just about the film being bad (though critics didnât hold back).
Instead, Snow White got caught in the crossfire of global outrage â from both the left and the right.
đľđ¸ Pro-Palestine Boycott: No Platform for War Criminals
Gal Gadot has proudly aligned herself with the Israeli military and defended its attacks on Gaza â where over 61,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, most of them women and children.
Sheâs repeatedly used her platform to justify these actions, calling for support of the IDF even as Israel faces genocide accusations at the International Court of Justice.
That didnât sit well with audiences in the Arab world, or with millions globally calling for a #FreePalestine.
đ Arab resistance groups across Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Tunisia launched campaigns to boycott Snow White, labeling it cultural normalization of occupation.
đ˛ Hashtags like #BoycottSnowWhite, #SnowWhiteWithOccupationFlavour, and #BoycottGalGadot flooded social media.
đŁď¸ Gadot Is No Hero
Letâs be real â casting a former IDF soldier to play a character in a fairytale meant for children is more than tone-deaf.
Itâs part of a broader Hollywood pattern of rewarding those complicit in violent systems â while silencing those who speak for justice.
đľ The Rightâs Boycott Too?
Hereâs where it gets messier: Snow White also got heat from conservatives.
They criticized Disney for being âtoo woke,â slammed the filmâs diverse casting (yes, they were mad the dwarves werenât all white men), and were furious over lead actress Rachel Zeglerâs past anti-Trump and pro-Palestine comments.
Zegler said âFree Palestineâ and dared to challenge the original Snow Whiteâs plot. Disney reportedly tried to censor her. She didnât budge.
Now, both pro-Israel conservatives and pro-Palestinian audiences are boycotting â and Disney is left with a pile of losses.
đ A Cultural Battle Disney Canât Win
đĽ Snow White is a perfect storm of backlash:
- A lead actress (Gadot) tied to an apartheid regime.
- A co-star (Zegler) criticized for being âtoo politicalâ by the right.
- A $250M movie that nobody wanted to see.
Disney tried to play both sides â and lost both.
đž One More Thing: Donât Let Your Money Fund Occupation
Disney is learning the hard way: audiences are no longer silent. We see through the whitewashing. We wonât fund films that normalize genocide.
đą Use Boycat to keep your spending aligned with your values.
đ§ Donât just boycott Snow White â boycott companies that platform apartheid.
đŞ Mirror, mirror on the wall⌠whoâs the most complicit of them all?
Disney â and theyâre paying the price.
#FreePalestine âđ˝
