Everything You Need to Know: Why We Must Keep Boycotting Disney

Disney built its empire on magic, dreams, and childhood wonder. But behind the glitter, the company has aligned itself with apartheid, censorship, and propaganda.
From multimillion dollar donations to Israeli organizations to silencing pro-Palestine voices and glorifying the Israeli military in its films, Disney has chosen complicity over conscience.
Here is everything you need to know.
💰 Disney’s Millions for Israel
In 2023, as bombs fell on Gaza, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger announced a two million dollar donation to Israel, including one million to Magen David Adom, an organization that directly supports the Israeli military through its operations.
Iger called it “humanitarian relief,” but his statement made no mention of Palestinian civilians being massacred in Gaza. He then offered to match employees’ donations to Israel up to twenty five thousand dollars each.
At the time of the donation, the United Nations had already described Israel’s actions in Gaza as collective punishment. Disney, the supposed champion of family entertainment, was funding the state bombing families in their homes.
🎬 Marvel’s Pro-Israel Propaganda
Disney’s media empire is not neutral. It is shaping narratives.
Marvel, a Disney subsidiary, plans to introduce “Sabra,” an Israeli superhero and former Mossad agent, in Captain America: Brave New World. The character’s name itself references the Sabra and Shatila massacre, where thousands of Palestinians were slaughtered.
In the comics, Sabra was written as a nationalist figure fighting “Arab terrorists,” often depicted in racist caricatures. Now, Marvel has cast Shira Haas, an Israeli actress who served in the Israeli Defense Forces, to play her.
The backlash was immediate. Palestinians and allies branded the film “#CaptainApartheid” and called for a global boycott. Even after Disney tried to quietly rework Sabra’s backstory, the harm was done. The message was clear:
Disney’s blockbusters are doubling as Israeli state propaganda.
🔇 Silencing Voices for Palestine
Inside Disney, speaking up for Palestinians has consequences.
When Snow White star Rachel Zegler tweeted “Free Palestine,” Disney executives reportedly panicked. Sources told Variety that producers were sent to confront her and a social media team was hired to monitor her posts.
Zegler refused to delete her tweet. It has since reached over nine million views, but her relationship with Disney was permanently damaged.
Meanwhile, Disney continues to platform stars like Gal Gadot, a former Israeli soldier and outspoken supporter of the Israeli government. No backlash. No silence.
This hypocrisy sends a clear message: Palestinian lives are controversial, but Israeli militarism is not.
🏗️ Business Ties and Hidden Investments
Disney’s involvement goes beyond donations and movies. It is financial.
The Disney family’s investment arm, Shamrock Holdings, owns major stakes in Israeli companies, including real estate firms involved in large-scale projects across Israel. Some of these developments are tied to settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
Disney has also collaborated with the Israeli government before. In the 1990s, Epcot hosted a Jerusalem exhibit sponsored by Israel’s Ministry of Tourism that called Jerusalem the “eternal capital of Israel.” After backlash from Arab American groups, Disney was forced to revise it.
Three decades later, the company is still aligning itself with the same apartheid state. This time, not just through words, but through money, stories, and silence.
🌍 Global Boycott and Fan Backlash
When Disney’s two million dollar donation hit the news, the internet erupted.
“Disney supports genocide.”
“Unsubscribe from Disney Plus.”
“Boycott Captain America. Boycott apartheid.”
The hashtags #BoycottDisney and #BoycottCaptainApartheid spread across social media, and many fans canceled their subscriptions, refusing to pay a company funding Israel’s war.
At red carpet premieres, protesters carried Palestinian flags and chanted “Free, free Palestine” in front of Disney’s cameras.
This is more than a boycott. It is a cultural reckoning. People are realizing that every subscription, every film ticket, and every toy purchase is a political choice.
